“THIS PROGRAM IS CONFIDENCE-BUILDING, AND IT HAS INCREASED PEER TO PEER INTERACTION…”

“Our mission is to ensure that every individual has opportunity to live the life they want under the NDIS.” Said Kathy Bullock Sate Manager of Afford, NSW.

Afford (the Australian Foundation for Disability) is a registered charity and has been operating in Australia for over 66 years, providing a range of disability supports to thousands of people every day under the NDIS.

“We are proud to be associated with the Heroes With Ability Program, who share our vision for greater inclusivity and respect for all people, of all abilities.

Our clients look forward to attending the program each week and it is having a positive impact on their health, wellbeing and fitness, all while having fun. It’s all about choice and control and being able to do the things you love.”

Heroes With Ability spokesman George Tonna said he was proud of what Heroes with Ability have done with the participants and how they have developed their skills, fitness and fine motor skills in the last 10 weeks of the program.

He also wanted to thank Afford especially Kathy Bullock, for her insight and passion for this program, otherwise this would not be possible.

George said that the participants were looking forward to the Gala Day on the 20th September at Peter Miller Park, Casula (starting at 10am).

“In my eyes they are all heroes. The ability they have shown over the last 10 weeks is really touching and shows the true human spirit in action.” George said.

Heroes with Ability plans to continue their partnership with Afford after the Gala Day and bring other sports into the program such as football (Soccer) and basketball.
